Barcelona 92 and the Montjuïc mountain

In 1992 the summer Olympic Games were held in Barcelona, and were considered the best to date. Come with us to discover the ‘Magic Mountain’, as the locals nickname the Montjuïc Mountain, where the main events of the Barcelona ’92 Olympics were staged.

The Olympic Games of 1992 left a valuable legacy for the city.

The running tour begins at the Venetian towers of Plaça España, goes through the Magic Fountain, the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the German Pavilion by architect Mies van der Rohe and the CaixaForum building and runs the last kilometers of the Olympic marathon of 1992

From this point, the climb begins and we see the venues of the 1992 Olympic Games, such as the Palau Sant Jordi (by architect Arata Isozaki), the Picornell pool, the Olympic Stadium and the Montjuïc pool (where the diving competition took place and which offers unmatched views of Barcelona). After passing by the Fundació Joan Miró, we will begin the descent to the Miramar Observation deck, and from there we will make our way around Colon to end our trip in the Rambla de Santa Monica, i.e. the bottom of the Ramblas.

For those who are more trained, optionally we can climb to Montjuïc Castle.

Briefly, this is an iconic route to discover the secrets of the olympic mountain of Montjuïc.
